This is the only known example of this solid cast iron peanut vendor. It is the predecessor to the Lion Vendor and appears to have been made by the same manufacturer (Wagner Mfg. Co.). This machine weighs about 30 lbs.

This is the only known example of this beautiful, early gum ball vendor. This machine was made for H.E. Winters Specialty Co., a jobber who also made advertising specialties.  It is also pictured on the back cover of Silent Salesmen Too.

I bought this machine many years ago because I thought the witness window feature was unusual. When it arrived, I noticed that it had a decal that was specific to the witness window variation. Little did I know that a picker friend would call me a few years later and sell me (sight unseen) a gum machine marquee he had picked up in Wisconsin. It turned out to be the specific marquee for this machine...a match that must have been arranged in heaven. This very machine is pictured on page 27 of Silent Salesmen Too. As far as I know, it is the only example of the complete machine with the correct marquee.

I have never seen or heard of another of these machines. It is definitely factory original and must have been used in a very high traffic area. It is almost exactly the same height as two Master machines stacked one on top of the other, yet there are no seams in the case where the top would normally be. There are separate panes of glass that stack on top of each other. Other than those differences, it is a slide top Fan Tail Master with nickel plating on the case and green porcelain on the bottom. Note the earlier filigree on the coin door.

The MO-JO is one of my favorite machines. This example has a flawless, original paper decal.

This is a very early cast iron gum ball vendor. I have seen two others and they were both painted yellow just like this one and the one pictured in Silent Salesmen Too.

I have only seen one other copy of this Yu Chu decal and it had been modified to apply to a 1 gum ball for 1 cent machine. This machine is a true 1-2-3 vendor and the killer decal (picturing "Mr. Yu" and "Mr. Chu" complete with coolie hats) is just fantastic. This same machine is pictured in Silent Salesmen Too on page 202.

This is an original Freeport Novelty Co. tab gum vendor from around 1910.  Freeport Novelty machines are hard to come by, especially with original marquees.  This one came out of a barn in Tennessee a few years ago.

This is the original, unrestored top to a Hen On A Nest vendor.  It was found in the dirt under the porch floor of a very old home in Oshkosh, WI several years ago.  There are remnants of the original yellow and red paint.  An image of the original machine is shown as well.  The hen itself has found a permanent home with us, but I sure wish I had the rest of the machine to go with her.
